A1c Update!!!

My battle with diabetes is one of my “why” I started this journey. My sister brought it to my attention that I didn’t give an update on my A1c. What is A1c? According to the Mayo Clinic it’s defined as a test is a common blood test used to diagnose type 1 and type 2 diabetes and then to gauge how well you're managing your diabetes. The A1C test goes by many other names, including glycated hemoglobin, glycosylated hemoglobin, hemoglobin A1C and HbA1c. The A1C test result reflects your average blood sugar level for the past two to three months. Specifically, the A1C test measures what percentage of your hemoglobin — a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen — is coated with sugar (glycated). The higher you’re A1C level, the poorer your blood sugars control and the higher your risk of diabetes complications (www.mayoclinic.org).

My A1c started out at 11.5, with 12 being the highest you can image what state I was in. I was faced with taking three pills and taking insulin and I could not see my life like that. Today I’m happy to say that my A1c is now 6.2!!! Yes, I lower my A1c almost in half. It was not easy but it is doable. You have to keep pushing no matter what and know that good things will happen. I don’t always feel like working out or having a healthier options; however I know it is necessary. I still take two pills because my doctor wants me to release more weight before taking me off. However, insulin has been taken all the way off the table and I’m feeling so much better about life. Remember you can do it! Be blessed and Happy Releasing!!!
